Restaurant Gift Cards in Madrid: Green Experience
Green Experience gift cards cover one diner on one of our two Experience menus. The person who receives it chooses the date.
How a Green Experience gift card works
- 01Two cards, one per line of the house: Vegetalia Experience at €218 and Gastrobotánica Experience at €228 per person
- 02The recipient picks the service date and books the table when it suits them
- 03The Vegetalia Experience card is pure plant cuisine: 100% vegan and vegetarian as standard, with nothing to request
- 04The Gastrobotánica Experience card covers our omnivore line, with fish and meat inside the menu, which is not adapted
- 05Both are Experience menus, so water, bread, a cheese service, liqueurs and a pairing are already included
Cards are issued by GASTROBOTANICA, S.L., the company behind El Invernadero de Rodrigo de la Calle, at Calle de Ponzano 85, in the Chamberí district of Madrid.
The amount on the card is the same per-diner price published on this site, and the team that answers card queries is the team that takes the bookings: [email protected], +34 628 93 93 67.
When a Green Experience card makes sense
-
SPEC. 01
A gift for someone who eats plant-based
The Vegetalia Experience card, at €218 per person, covers the plant line of the house: more than fifteen courses of vegetables and mushrooms, served 100% vegan or vegetarian as standard. Nothing has to be requested when the table is booked.
-
SPEC. 02
A gift sent from abroad before a trip to Madrid
The card fixes the menu and the amount, and leaves the date open for whoever receives it. That suits gifts made months before a trip, when the travel dates are not settled yet.
-
SPEC. 03
A gift for a table where diets do not match
One diner can be given a Vegetalia Experience card and the other a Gastrobotánica Experience card, at €228 per person, so each one sits at the line they want. Both cards work on the same booking.
-
SPEC. 04
A gift with the full format in mind
Both cards are Experience menus, which is the extended version of each line: water, bread, a cheese service, liqueurs and a pairing of wines, cocktails or house fermented drinks are already in the price.
From buying the card to sitting at the table
-
1. Decide the line before the amount
First choose between Vegetalia, which is pure plant cuisine, and Gastrobotánica, which is omnivore and not adapted. Those are the only two cards, and both are Experience menus with the pairing included.
-
2. Buy the card for each diner
Every card covers one diner on one menu at its published price. For two people at the same table, two cards are needed.
-
3. The recipient books the date
The table is reserved separately through the booking page of this site, choosing one of the services the house operates. The card is presented at the restaurant, not when you book.
-
4. Allergies go in with the booking
Vegetalia is plant-based as it comes, so there is nothing to request on that count. Any allergy, and any preference about adding animal protein as seasoning, has to be said when the table is booked.
-
5. Anything unclear, ask us first
Questions about a specific card, its menu or its validity are answered at [email protected] or on +34 628 93 93 67. It is quicker to check before booking than after.
“A good gastronomic proposal and very well executed. We took the longest menu and left completely full. Absolutely worth it for a special occasion.”

Frequently asked questions about Green Experience gift cards
What exactly does a Green Experience gift card cover?
One diner on one of our two Experience menus, at its published price per person: €218 for Vegetalia Experience and €228 for Gastrobotánica Experience. The card does not include the reservation itself, which is made separately through the booking page of this site.
How long is a card valid for?
Each card carries its own validity, and that is the date to go by when booking. If you cannot read it or you are not sure which card you hold, write to [email protected] with the card details and we will check it before you reserve.
Is a gift card a good idea for a vegan or vegetarian diner?
Yes: the Vegetalia Experience card is pure plant cuisine and arrives 100% vegan and vegetarian as standard, with nothing to request. A Gastrobotánica card is not suitable, because that line is omnivore, with meat, fish and shellfish, and it is not adapted.
Can the recipient swap the menu on the card for a different one?
The card is issued for a specific menu and amount, so a change is not automatic. If the person receiving it would rather sit at the other line, write to [email protected] before making the reservation and we will tell you what is possible with that particular card.
Can I use gift cards for a private celebration or have the menu sent somewhere?
No. The card is for a diner at our dining room in Calle de Ponzano 85, in Chamberí. We do not organise private events or catering, and there is no delivery service.
A Green Experience gift card is written against one menu and one diner, not against a spending balance. That is a consequence of how the house works: there is no à la carte here, only tasting menus, so the card is issued for the menu you choose and for its published price per person.
There are two possible amounts: Vegetalia Experience at €218 per person and Gastrobotánica Experience at €228 per person. If you are giving the experience to two people, you buy two cards, because every menu in this house is priced per person.
Choosing between the two lines is the decision that matters, and it is worth a minute of thought before you buy. Vegetalia is pure plant cuisine and arrives 100% vegan and vegetarian as standard, so nothing has to be requested when the table is booked.
Gastrobotánica is the omnivore line, built with meat, fish and shellfish, and it is not adapted under any circumstances.
So if you do not know exactly how the person you are giving it to eats, a Vegetalia card is the safer gift: it works for a plant-based diner and it works for someone with no dietary restriction at all.

The card does not hold a table on its own. It is a right to sit at one of our services, and the reservation is made separately through the booking page of this site, choosing among the dinner sittings and the weekend lunch service that the house actually operates.
That separation is deliberate: gastronomic travel plans change, and the person who receives the card is usually the one who knows when they will be in Madrid.
Each card carries its own validity, and if the date printed on it is not clear, write to [email protected] and we will check the specific card before anyone tries to book with it.

One limit worth stating plainly, because it comes up: these cards are for a diner coming to our dining room at Ponzano 85.
We do not organise private events or catering, and there is no delivery of any kind, so a Green Experience card cannot be turned into a meal sent somewhere else or into a closed room for a group. It is a seat at a service, for a named menu, at a fixed price per person.
Restaurant gift cards in Madrid: the Green Experience
Green Experience is the name of our own gift card, and it works in one direction only: one diner, one tasting menu, one seat at El Invernadero de Rodrigo de la Calle in Chamberí.
What a Green Experience card actually covers
Each card corresponds to one of our two Experience menus, priced per person: Vegetalia Experience at €218 and Gastrobotánica Experience at €228. You buy the menu, not an open amount to be spent later, so the person receiving it already knows exactly which experience is waiting. That matters when you are giving a gift at this level: nobody wants to hand over a card and then explain that the recipient may have to add money at the table.
Choosing between the vegetal line and the omnivore line
The two lines are genuinely different, and the choice you make when buying is the choice the recipient will live with. Vegetalia is pure plant cuisine and is 100% vegan and vegetarian as standard. Gastrobotánica is an omnivore menu with meat, fish and shellfish, and it does not adapt. If you are buying for someone who eats no animal products, the card must be a Vegetalia one. Getting this right at purchase avoids the single most uncomfortable situation possible: a vegan guest sitting down to a menu that was never designed for them.

How the card is used once it reaches the table
The card is an invitation to a specific menu; the date is chosen afterwards by whoever receives it.
The recipient picks the date, not the buyer
Anyone who has tried to gift a restaurant in a city they do not live in knows the problem: you book a date, the recipient cannot make it, and the gift turns into an administrative task. Here the sequence is reversed. The card is issued first, and the table is booked later through our reservation system, choosing among the services we actually run — dinner from Tuesday to Saturday and public holidays in two sittings, 19:00 and 21:30, and lunch on Saturdays and public holidays at 14:00. Details of how the booking itself works, and where allergies are recorded, are set out on our booking page.
Validity and the practicalities of a card bought from abroad
A large part of our guests travel to Madrid from elsewhere, and gift cards often cross borders before they cross our door. The validity period of each Green Experience card is stated on the card itself and confirmed at the time of purchase, so the recipient can plan a trip around it rather than rushing a booking. If you are unsure about dates, timing or which menu suits the person you have in mind, write to [email protected] or call +34 628 93 93 67 and we will confirm the details before you buy.

What the Green Experience card is not
One clarification saves a great many enquiries, so it is worth stating plainly.
A seat for one diner, not a service for groups or companies
Green Experience cards exist for one purpose: a single diner booking a table at El Invernadero. We do not run private events, we do not offer catering and we do not do delivery, so the card cannot be used towards any of those. Corporate buyers occasionally ask whether the card can underwrite a private dinner or a company function; it cannot, and we prefer to say so before anyone plans around it.
A tasting menu, because there is nothing else to choose
There is no à la carte selection at El Invernadero — the house works exclusively with tasting menus, all priced per person. A gift card therefore always corresponds to a complete menu, which is the only format in which we serve. Rodrigo de la Calle is the creator of gastrobotánica and the author of everything that leaves the kitchen, and the menus are conceived as sequences rather than as a list of dishes to pick from. Anyone receiving a Green Experience card is receiving a full sitting in a house that holds One MICHELIN Star and has been named World's Best Vegetable Restaurant since 2024.
A card for El Invernadero, not for the daytime project in the same room
From Tuesday to Friday at midday our premises operate as Barbecho Bar, a separate project with its own menu and its own reservations. Green Experience cards apply to El Invernadero services only. If someone tries to redeem a card at a weekday lunch, they will find a different restaurant in the same address on Calle de Ponzano 85, in the Chamberí district of Madrid.
